FRP / BMC Manhole Cover

Built to take the weight of the road.

Malpine manhole covers by Jindal are made from FRP/BMC composite — strong enough to carry a vehicle wheel, light enough to lift by hand, and free from rust.

Why Malpine

Tough where it matters

Traditional cast-iron and concrete covers rust, crack or get stolen. Composite covers solve all three.

🛞

Heavy load capable

Designed for vehicle traffic — the cover is shown here with a car wheel parked on top of it.

🪶

Lightweight

Far lighter than cast iron or RCC, so it is easier to transport, install and open for maintenance.

🛡️

Corrosion proof

No rusting, no rotting. Stands up to water, drainage gases, chemicals and weather.

🔒

Theft resistant

Composite has no scrap-metal value, which discourages theft of covers.

⚡

Non-conductive

Does not conduct electricity — safer around power and telecom chambers.

🧩

Anti-skid pattern

Embossed grip pattern across the surface for traction in wet conditions.

Knowledge Guide

FRP vs Composite manhole covers

"Composite" and "FRP" are often used as if they mean different things. They don't — FRP is one kind of composite. Here is how to choose with confidence.

🧵

FRP / GRP

A polymer matrix reinforced with fibres — usually glass fibre. GRP (glass-reinforced plastic) sits inside the FRP family.

📄

SMC

Sheet Moulding Compound: resin, glass fibre, fillers and additives in sheet form, pressed in a heated mould.

🏺

BMC

Bulk Moulding Compound: the same ingredients in bulk form, ideal for detailed shapes. Malpine covers are FRP/BMC.

It's the whole system, not the name

Two covers made of the same material can perform very differently. What decides real-world strength:

Which one suits your project?

Choose FRP whenYou want fibre-reinforced strength, rust-free service, easy handling and a non-metal cover.
Choose SMC / BMC whenYou need moulded detail, repeatable quality, anti-skid patterns, embossed markings or logos, and consistent production.

🎨

Customisable

Size, thickness, frame depth, anti-skid surface, colour, markings, logos, lifting points and locking options can be tailored.

⚠️

Know the limits

Chemical resistance depends on the resin, the chemical, its concentration, temperature and exposure time. Share your site conditions with us.

🔍

Still inspect

Lighter does not mean maintenance-free. Check frame seating, locks, surface wear and the pavement around the cover regularly.

A note on load classes. Covers are commonly grouped into classes such as A15, B125, C250 and D400. A cover should only be described as meeting a class when that exact cover-and-frame combination has been tested. Ask us for the right Malpine size and rating for your location.
